Animal Nutrition Internship

Gertens Family of Businesses is seeking two interns to join Spikes and Houles Feed Stores for Summer 2024.
The Animal Nutrition Intern will have the opportunity to learn all operations within the retail store.
You will partner with the Store Manager as well as other Representatives and Departments to complete farm gate calls, feed trials, and create social media content.
These are paid internships that will run from May 20, 2024 - August 16, 2024.
One Intern will be based with our Maple Plain, MN location and the other will be based with our Stillwater, MN location.
Please note, housing is not provided to those participating in the internship program.
What can you look forward to during this internship opportunity?Complete farm gate calls to prospective customers to develop selling skills.
o Research barns in area to develop a plan on where to goo Ride along with Sales Support Specialistso Learn the order input and delivery systemo Improve product knowledge of feed brandsComplete feed trials with customerso Partner with Product Sales Representative and the Spikes Sales Support Specialist to develop a feed trial plan with customero Track progress/outcome of feed trialProduct knowledge researcho Research the products that we have in storeo Partner with Sales Representative to learn more about the products they represent o Attend any virtual or in person trainings/seminars offered by different brandsIncrease and develop social media presence o Develop a minimum of three Facebook Live videos throughout internshipo Partner with Marketing Department to further develop the Spikes and Houles Social Media platform.
Gain retail experience o Work within the retail location to develop knowledge of feed store operations, including cashiering, customer engagement, stocking and rotating, and seasonal change over.
o Assist with in-store live chick salesEnd of Internship Presentation to present knowledge gained and benefits of internship experience Required Qualifications o Junior or Senior in college o Areas of study including but not limited to Agribusiness, Veterinarian Studies, or related degree working towards Bachelors, Associate or Certificates are acceptable.
o Ability to prioritize and perform tasks efficiently.
o Exceptional analytical, organizational and communication skills.
o Problem-solving ability.
Physical Requirements:
While performing duties of job, employee is required to stand, and walk for long periods of time, sit, bend, kneel; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, and be able to read documents and computer screens.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
